The Disco

LED astray

I mentioned a while back, that I got some LED remote control lights when I went to Perth to get the old kitchen unit.

These just stick on with adhesive tape to a flat surface, however I wanted them on the roof and that was all carpeted.

So I improvised and stuck them on to a spare piece of the PVC panels I had, and I would use the tongue section on that to secure it to the roof.

As a temporary measure, I just wedged them into the gap between the aircon duct and the roof, to be honest they could have stayed there but when testing them later on when it was dark, the kitchen area wasn't lit that well due to the shadow.

And again, I ran the cables up from the fusebox, via the control panel switch and then joined them all up as before.

As these lights came with a sealed plug on them for 240V system, I just cut that off and connected them direct.
But I wanted to hide the little transformer, so I just drilled a hole in the aircon duct and hid it in there.
You can also see in the photo below, the little RFID sensor for the remote control.

So as you can see, the lights work and they are 150cm long so stretch pretty much the whole length of the living area.

So with them up, it was time to test them. Obviously better done at night time, though photos won't show them in full effect, and the video below isn't the best quality.. needs to be seen really to get the best affect!

Did a quick video at night too, but it's a bit blurry sorry.

The LED's have 15 pre-set colours you can select, or just white and have 7 levels of brightness.
They also have 4 patterns - Fade, Smooth, Flash & Strobe. These can be selected using 7 different speeds.

So the Disco Bus is taking shape!
