Laying It Low
Another fairly big task ticked off the To Do List was completed today, and that was to put the flooring down.
I had ordered some vinyl flooring from eBay, it was about £27 and easy enough to clean after getting muddy on a festival site.
As the shape I needed to cut it was awkward to say the least and the roll of vinyl would be hard to manoeuvre , I decided to make a template out of some tarp I had.
So first I put that into the van and cut out a rough shape of what I needed, with a bit spare round the edges.
Once that was done, it was just a case of overlaying that on the vinyl and cutting out the same shape, with another extra safety margin just in case.
That was the easy bit done, now just had to take that into the van and cut round it all. To be honest it was fine, only had one slight mistake which I managed to rectify anyway. A couple of the edges looked a bit rough, but I had a plan for that too.
So with that down, the bit under the sofa had a join in it due to the roll not being long enough plus I wanted to hide a bit I messed up.
I bough a metal grip section to cover up the join, plus this would also help the section of bed that pulls out so it wouldn't catch on the flooring.. clever eh!
I also bought some laminate flooring beading, just to cover up some of the rough edges and to give it a better finish.
Am hopeless at cutting angles into it though, so no fancy 45 degree angle joins here.. rough as you get with this self build.
The last couple of bits I wanted to do was the steps, I just removed the old vinyl and put some of my new stuff down.
So as you can see in the 2 final pictures below, the job is done and it still looks decent enough and am happy with how it's all turned out.
