The Box

Boxed In

I wanted to hide the gas bottle that supplies the kitchen appliances, so a simple solution was just to box it in.

So first I cut 4 lengths of wood to build the frame, 2 had to be slightly shorter due to the raised bit I put in for the gas drop hole.

Then I screwed the batons to the frame and the kitchen unit, and then cut a bit of MDF to fit the front.

Then it was time to use the trusty old Veltrim (still got loads of it left) and cover that front panel and I also cut another bit of MDF to put on the top.

Once the adhesive had taken hold, it was just a case of trimming round the excess and leaving a bit for the bottom panel that the gas bottle sits on.

So as you can see above, a simple job but looks good and also gives me a little shelf to store stuff on if need be.

For a final finish, I have also put on a bit of the aluminium trim, there is no need to screw this top piece of wood on either, it sits in snug and gives me easy access to the gas bottle when required.
